All About NYC Vacation Packages
Are you thinking about NYC vacation packages this year? What a great idea!
Everyone should book a Christmas vacation package to New York City at least once in their lives! It's an
experience you will never forget! And isn't that what we all attempt to do at Christmas time?
- create wonderful memories to someday look back upon with our loved ones.
celebrate Christmas, but none come close to what you would experience with NYC vacation packages.
Only a NYC Christmas has the spectacular light displays, the fine
dining, the Broadway shows, the ceremonial "Ball" dropping in Times Square on New Year's Eve, the unique window displays of
the many Department Stores, the hsitorical landmark St. Patrick's Cathedral, and the
massive and world famous
Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree!

The famous Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree. The tree goes up in the beginning of December until the first week of January.
How do you start planning for your NYC vacation packages?
First things first:
How To Get Here: NYC is the hub of transportation so you can get here by car, train, plane or bus.
No matter where you are from, you can
By Plane: We have 3 major international airports, John F. Kennedy airport (JFK) or Liberty International (NWK) and
LaGuardia, (LGA) that
are close to New York City. Then a short 30 minute cab ride and you are at the center of the City.
By Bus or Train: You can also ride Amtrak trains from anywhere in the United States into Grand Central Station,
or ride a Passenger
Bus into the Port Authority terminal (the main gateway for interstate buses into NYC), both in midtown Manhattan
(New York City).
A short taxi ride will take you to your accommodations.
Next, Where will you Stay?...
You have a virtually unlimited choice of accommodations to fit any NYC vacation package's budget.
To simplify it a bit, lets focus on three ranges of accommodations:
1) Luxury Manhattan hotels - where you will be treated like royalty and pampered beyond belief. There are
plenty of hotels to choose from in NYC where extravagance is plentiful.
Try the The Four Seasons Hotel: The epitome of luxury in the heart of Manhattan. Concierge is very helpful and
courteous. Fine restaurants are around every corner. Within walking distance is shopping on 5th Avenue and Madison
Avenue. Stroll through Central Park, walk to Radio City Music Hall for the Christmas Spectacular Show
(A Must See on your NYC vacation package) and Rockefeller
Or The New York Palace: This is a larger luxury hotel located across the street from St. Patrick's Cathedral. You
will be in walking distance of many of the attractions like the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, Saks Fifth Avenue,
Broadway shows, and many fine restaurants. Recognized world wide as a premier hotel.
This is the Lobby of the grand NY Palace Hotel - just steps from Rockefeller Center, 5th Avenue shopping and so many more activities.
Best value and location? The Millenium at Broadway. It's our favorite. It's not very expensive and the location
is still great - right in the heart of Times Square, where all the activity is!
The rooms are a little small and if you can forgo the view
of the bright lights of Broadway, then you can get an even better deal. You will be within walking distance of Restaurant
Row where you have your choice of different ethnic fare - you are sure to experience some delicious meals.
This is me in the Lobby of the Millenium Hotel. Our NYC vacation package included transportation via NJ Transit Train and accommodations at the beautiful Millenium Hotel on Broadway - in the heart of Times Square.
Other good value Midtown Hotels are: The Marriot Marquis and The W Hotel - both centrally located with fine
dining, Broadway shows, and sightseeing all in walking distance. The Marriot Marquis has a restaurant on its upper level
that slowly revolves so that the New York Skyline is constantly changing. Awesome view! And the W Hotel has the best
seafood restaurant called The Blue Fin. I love their sushi and Sam loves the raw oysters and clams. Extremely fresh and reasonably priced.
My good friend Ginny Indelicato has been a travel agent for about 11 years now. She's a native New Yorker and knows her way around. She will work hard to get you a NYC vacation package to suit your needs and wants.

3)Looking for Cheaper Accomodations? - there are plenty of low cost hotels also. They may be a little further east or west
or more downtown, but they can be pleasantly surprising. The city has much to explore and you might just find that
diamond in the rough.
Or the most economical alternative to Manhattan hotels is renting an apartment for a week or two.
Most apartments are not
big but they will have a kitchen and living area for your family. Here you can experience living like a true New Yorker while on
Some other things to consider about your NYC vacation packages:
Once you are Here...How do you get around? Most tourists that visit think the only way to get around is by taxi. It
will take you where you have to go, but it's not the most economical.
New York City has a vast public transportation system. We have a subway or a bus that will get you anywhere you want to go
both in the city and into the surrounding areas, if you wish.
I stongly recommend this!
It's probably the
fastest and cheapest way to get where you want to go. Don't worry about getting lost - there are subway and bus maps
at each stop and New Yorkers are always willing to help with directions. It's very fast, clean and safe. My family and I take it whenever we are in the city. Don't worry about using public transportation with your NYC vacation package.
Or if you want to get more up close and personal when exploring the city, then take a New York City Walking Tour. It's great fun and very informative too - learn some history and culture of NY while you are here. Some are even specifically designed for children. Very reasonable cost too.
I Do Not recommend renting a car to get around. Navigating traffic in New York City is tricky and
There's a well deserved reason New York City Taxi drivers have a reputation for being aggressive and at times reckless.
Oh.. .did I mention the parking. Well there isn't much on the street. You would be forced to park in lots which could get to
One form of public transportation that you should definitely include in your NYC vacation package is the Staten Island
Ferry! And it won't cost you anything additional.
You can get this ferry at Battery Park in lower Manhattan (take the subway to Whitehall Ferry Terminal). It travels
through New York Harbor to Staten Island, a suburb of New York. It is not just a sightseeing
ride, but a transportation vehicle for the commuters to get to and from Staten Island. So you will see plenty of local
New Yorkers on the ferry during the business rush hour getting to their destinations.
It is free and its about
a 20 minute ride that passes directly in front of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island on the right hand side when leaving
New York City and passes Governor's Island on the left. In the distance you will see the Verrazano Narrrows Bridge that
links Staten Island to Brooklyn.
On the return trip to New York City, you will see spectacular
views of the New York skyline. If you return at night, the skyline will be all lit with the lights of NYC.
Have your cameras
ready! The views are well worth the trip!
Try to get on an older green and orange boat if you would like to sit outside on the decks that have the best
views. The newer white ferries do not have outdoor decks. Weather permitting of course.
Temperatures at Christmas time can be very chilly in New York.
Enjoy your NYC vacation package!
